Pee Dee Electric offers a $100 account credit for air source heat pumps that have a SEER rating of 15-15.99, a $300 account credit for air source heat pumps that have a SEER rating of 16 or greater, and a $500 account credit for the installation of an Energy Star ground source heat pump.
The new heat pump must be installed according to the following standards:
- Equipment must be rated by the Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Institute (ARI) Guide as having a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating (SEER) of 15 or higher.
- If the heat pump is obtained for the construction of a new dwelling, the dwelling must have insulation values of R-30 in the ceiling, R-17 in the outside walls and R-19 in the floor. The dwelling must have storm windows, double-paned windows, or weather-stripped metal doors.
- If the heat pump is installed in an existing dwelling, it must meet the insulation standards listed above where possible.
- The heat pump must be installed according to the manufacturer's specifications and recommendations and installed according to all applicable national, state & local codes.
A purchase receipt for the heat pump and signed invoice from the contractor must accompany the rebate application when submitted for processing.
Your heat pump can use 10 percent to 25 percent more energy if it's not properly maintained, which includes regularly checking and replacing the air filter when it's dirty to keep parts from working too hard or even becoming damaged. Keep brush and plants tidy around the outdoor unit, and dust the return registers inside. For more details on heat pump maintenance, visit EnergySavers.gov.
